Frances Lopez
Francisca (Frances) Lopez identifies as a Boricua Lesbian, born and raised in East Harlem, NYC. She is an alumna of Stuyvesant High School, Brown University (Bachelor of Arts), and Columbia University (Master of Social Work), having had the privilege of attending some of the finest educational institutions. Her journey, starting as a girl from El Barrio, was marked by determination and resilience, navigating elite systems that often felt exclusive and unwelcoming. Fueled by her upbringing and background, Frances developed a passion for helping others, especially marginalized populations who feel voiceless. Children's Aid played a significant role in her life. From receiving orthodontic care and attending summer camps in East Harlem to her stepchildren participating in the same programs, Children's Aid has been a constant support. This connection came full circle as Frances has dedicated the past 11 years to working at Children’s Aid, currently serving as the Senior Director of Family Support Programs. In her role, Frances oversees four Family Support Programs and leads a team of about 70 staff members, providing prevention services to nearly 400 families across the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. She is honored to be part of Children’s Aid’s collective impact initiative, serves on the educational committee, and collaborates with a dynamic prevention leadership team. Beyond her professional life, Frances loves salsa music, the sun and beach, and is an avid sports fan, cheering for the Mets, Jets, Knicks, and Liberty.
